Loose front shaft

Hi everyone, new here. Picked up a Rhino 660 on a trade, it has about 200 some hours, runs fantastic. Noticed the other day a slight noise in the front. To then finally pin point it to the front driveshaft. Itís got a bit of play to it, but oddly enough itís not at the actual joint but after it, on the shaft. I looked up the IPL and seems as though there is a spring there? I wasnít able to pull back the boot and see but I will this weekend. Wanted to ask to see if this is a common issue? It runs fantastic 4wd works great the only reason I noticed it is because I cleaned out the carb and installed an oem muffler and was testing it all by giving it hard taps on the throttle in High on my driveway, head the slight little ding in front.

Any idea would be greatly appreciated. Glad to be a part of this new rhino family!

Both front and rear have a spring that allows you to remove the drive shaft when needing to work on a differential while still keeping it tensioned when assembled. The springs do wear and can rust, but it is normal to be able to jiggle it back and forth a little. Unless the drive shaft is really flopping around I wouldn’t worry about, as getting to the part the shaft slides into in a huge PITA. You have to take both axles out to remove the respective differential.
