Okay so newbie here and haven't posted since I got on the sight. 08 rhino 700fi 4x4. Added new rear axles. 4500lb winch. Stood a buddies deer stand up with. Stand was a lot bigger than we thought. Solved one problem by putting a new spark plug in it properly gapped and making sure wire was on tight. Now I can't get the bike to go past 24mph without it making a lot of popping like it's in the governor but I've had this bike up to 43 and still had room to go. Next is the reverse light stays on all the time now haven't figured that one out yet. And the 4wheel drive doesn't work. Have tested both swith and servo and both came back good. Think it's either a ground issue or a power supply problem. All new relays in it. Saw where one person redid the wiring to the relays with individual connections, might have to do that as most of mine are in bad shape. Could use any hints or tips before I take to a local shop to get diagnosed and possibly fixed before opening of deer season.

Welcome to the site, not having a 700 I don't know the nature of the beast. Hopefully someone will chime in soon. Clean all the relays and put back together.

Using a multi-meter, ensure your reverse sensor hasn't failed. Clean and lubricate all connections with dialectic grease as well.

Let us know what you find.

Don't know about the 700, but on a 660 it's a green/white wire on the passenger side of the engine with a bullet connector.

neuteral switch assy. Pull it out and clean the contacts. Look right above that, the thing sticking up they also call a neuteral switch, pull the connector off top and clean it also and use some electric grease when u put it back on. One or both of those is ur problem. Drivers side under intake

Pretty sure I saw an old thread n here about the same exact problem with the cutting out and low speed when I was at work one night.
Had something to do with the guys wire to his brake/tail lights had melted or crimped?? Check your wires running under the bed all the way to the taillights.
If your wires need attention as you said, that could be the problem for all of it 4x4 and speed. Cut/solder/heat shrink till all clean and neat :)

Okay if anybody is still watching this thread got it figured out. Green with white stripe wire coming off of the cdi box had been undone from battery. When I put it back on and tightened up the battery lug the light went right off. Am able to get it up to 38mph and that seems to he topped out though it has plenty of throttle left. Thanks for the help. Now to try and get the 4wd figured out.
