Went to start the beast and the starter just spins, we removed the starter seems to be ok. You can stick your finger in and feel the starter gear and it seems to also spin freely both ways, it just won't engage the motor to start up does anyone have any thoughts on where to go from hear?

not sure if this will help but we had this same problem on one of our rails..after we installed a new starter it would spin and wouldn't engage... we then pulled it off to find out that the part that pops out to engage either had gotten sand in it or something...but we manually had to pop it out with a screwdriver and freed it up....put it back in and worked like a charm...like i said, don't know if this will help or not.

yeah...it was a brand new starter and just spun and spun but wouldn't turn over the motor and we were like WTF? but it was just stuck...so you should try Brian method.

If its like the raptor it has a one way bearing that will cause the same type of problem because that allows the starter gear to engage .
