Hello I am a new member and I have a question about the shift shaft lubrication on my 2006 Rhino 660. I seem to have the classic worn gear problem on the shift linkage and when I opened the box I noticed the gasket and surface seem normal with no signs of oil leakage but also no signs of oil inside this box. I have been searching for a reason and only found one YouTube video that suggests oil is spashed in from the crankcase? There is a chromed plug on the top of this case so my question is should it have its own oil and has leaked out and if so what type and how much. There is nothing in the owners manual about this at all. Thanks!

Thank you! I saw that there is airflow when the cover is not installed and it has oil vapor in the air. I was told it was a splash system but I questioned it due to the cover gasket and shift shaft seal. I had the classic problem of worn out gears, moisture and rust in the shift shift area. I replaced the gears and resealed it and now it works like new!
