I just bought the rhino to use the engine to swap into my Rhino (mine is WAY modified except for engine).

Took the new one with the rotax and raced a neighbor's Razr S today, he definetly got me off the line, probably pulled about 20 feet ahead rather quickly, then it kind of stayed the same. This was for about 1/8th of a mile. Not sure which would win on top speed.

Is that to be expected? I kind of thought the rotax 800 would be quicker than the Razr 800's. The engine may not be running to it's full potential, sometimes the check engine light comes on when I turn the key on and it won't start, not sure what is up with that...

I guess it's not running 100% then. It does say 'maintence required', which I assume just means it needs an oilchange. The check enging light thing has me fooled, doesn't seem to be any certain time it does it, just sometimes the CE light comes on when I turn the key on, and it won't start.

I wouldn't say it should wax it,but lightly pull on it...the rzr s is lighter and runs pretty good...if your 800 is all stock then I would say a slight pull on him might happen...driven both, not really impressed with both in stock form....with a bunch of add ons it gets alittle more exciting...

mine is a fairly heavy 4 seater. on asphalt i raced my buddies who have RZR S and another with RZR 4. with two adults and a 14 yr old in mine i can out run both on a drag and at top speed. the RZR S is a bit harder to beat but he only had the adult driver on board.

pull your p codes from the gauge when the check engines appers. it will tell you what the problem is.

This is also what I would expect on a well setup conversion. Mine doesnt appear to be setup as good...

With a rider in mine vs a new rzr with a 100 lb girl in it I was even to maybe 1/2 length behind. Remove 215 lb passenger and I was ahead 1.5-2 lengths. I was expecting more as well.

800 rotax

in stock form they arent too impressive, programmer, pipe and clutch and then you'll be out in front....on the proshops dyno I remember, the stock rotax conversion puts down around 45 hp in stock form....a 686 with 11 to one piston, rejet, pipe and aircleaner and a light camshaft and port job puts down the same...that was my experience.....now let the fruit start flying from the audience.....you need to throw more money at it to make it faster....money=s speed...

also, where the rotax shines is once its on a nasty hill or dune, compared to the rzr...the rzr needs a running start as they don't have torque like the rotax, once its loaded it slowly looses steam...the rotax holds the hill from what I've been told, more like a teryx or built rhino motor...rzrs are light which helps them...
