I have a 09 450, it ran out of oil and before it gave out the engine noise got really loud and it started really tapping/knocking. It started and ran but the knocking noise was loud. I just pulled the engine and am wondering what I should look for. I was thinking to change the crank bearings, rings and adjust the valves.

Pulled the engine out and took the topend off, piston rod had excessive movement up and down with no damage to the head or cylinder. How involved is it to tear the rest of the motor down and take out the crank? Do I have to deal with the transmission/gears etc?

I looked up the instructions to split the cases and it looks like a hassle. How much would it cost to have a shop split it and replace the crank bearing and rod? I'm not familiar with any shops in my area that I would trust with the crank so I can send it almost anywhere.
