When the collar is slid over the shaft ,then movable sheeve half slid over the collar are the holes your talking about covered by the sheeve which has a grease seal on both ends?

You need to put some grease in the cavity between the seals on the movable sheeve half, and I would just coat the shaft that the collar slides over just to keep out water and corrosion.
