keeping the clutches cooler, it works

To keep clutches running cooler is to sand the primary sheaves. I do this all the time on my snowmobiles and it works GREAT. With your belt off start your machine so the primary is spinning, then take the sand paper, 60 grit or so, and reach down and lightly let it touch the spinning sheave. Touch it on the bottom and pull the sand paper straight up letting it very lightly slide up the sheave, you will see a swirling type of action going on on the face of the sheave. Do this to both sides. This will help the belt grab better, it has less tendancy to slip. DO NOT do this to the secondary, you want the belt to slide on that. Also a good thing to do is take your belt off and scrub it with dawn dish washing soap. All new belts come with a type of rubber preservative on them to keep the rubber from cracking while they sit on the shelf. Its a good idea to wipe down both clutch sheaves with castrol super clean to get all the film off.
