I thought the same thing when i first put my first one on, they dont look like they are fully seated when you check out the back of them,they look like they are shallow, I pulled it off three times, I also centerpunched the sides of the key so that it would have to be lightly tap'ed into the slot to retain it as you slide and then tighten the securing bolt,the distance once the hub and cover is on looks good, I think your good to go...

I thaught this was correct but i didnt take it apart to have an idea of what its supposed to be like.

My rhino project came in 1000 pieces

Wasnt sure if it was seated because when it sheared the key way it scared up the fly wheel and crank snout some.I polished out the scars on the fly wheel and did the best i could on crank.
Looks like its good to go now!
