Hi.
I am new to this forum and figured someone here could help me out some. I purchased a used 04 rhino 660 from my cousin a few months ago. It has very low miles and in great shape. I just had it completely serviced from the yamaha dealer before my trip. I went to coal creek tennessee and did some serious riding. With all the rain we have been having the puddles were more like PONDS and its hard to see how deep they are since they are always so muddy. Well we went through one and about burried the rhino. The water was up to my seat for a second but it was leaning to my side a bit. We made it out but after we got out the transmission started slipping so bad it would no longer pull itself. I am guessing the CVT had SOMEHOW got some water in it but I really am totally unsure what happened. We winched it out for about 2 hours while it was running to keep the battery from dying. I would kjeep hitting the gas while it was in gear from time to time just to try and dry the belt. Finally after 2 hours it started pulling again. It does fine now but I wonder if I should take anything apart to make sure nothing was damaged? We rode it the rest of the day for about 4 more hours with no problems but did not go through any more deep puddles. I thought these things could do puddles fine as long as you dont get it in the intake or CVT intake? I did notice a place on the engine towards the bottom on the passenger side that looked like a intake or something with a rubber hose leading to it and was completely open. Any idea what this is?? Water and dirt and grime for sure made its way in there and I have no clue where it leads?? I thought for a moment it was the CVT intake but it was not for the CVT intake is about the same heighth as the engine intake and the water did not get high enough to make it in them so I am stumped as to what happened to cause the slippage and if that big ghapping hole in the side had anything to do with it. Please help if you can.
