we have yet to find an easier way to get them apart. Gorilla says "tap with a wooden or rubber mallet". take it from me, this doesnt work. You have to beat on it pretty good. The best way is to put into vise, using a brass mallet on one side of the cv and a regular hammer on the other to try and offset the blow so you support the back side. Good luck.
