if you can get a good price on it jump on it....if you can run a motec system on it and do away with the management system and fly by wire that would be awesome........a great engine and trans in a great chasssis...........by the way, how much do u think u can get it for?

commanders have a lot of electrical stuff going on that I wouldn't want to get into. You could do it, but it would probably require a stand alone harness/computer (mega-squirt or something?)

I am sure it could be done but you are gonna be a pioneer and that can be both good and bad..................how much spare time do you have is the question!

i am doing it right now. yes the electronics are different from the quad but there is a few ways you can go with it. the trans mount is higher and closer to the motor so its also not a direct bolt in to a ryr kit. but not to hard to over come. there is alot of info i have on it shoot me a pm or give me a call and i will be more then happy to share it all with you.

i was lucky to find a wrecked one that i could just buy what i wanted from it. it was to far gone to rebuild. i got everything just like a take out package from a donor quad and then some. i have already figured a lot of it out as far as the electronics but there still are some hurdles if you want to run the whole package. for a rhino swap guy you will most likely not run all the commander electronics. or i will say its easier to just run quad electronics.

most likely i will be running quad electronics, a monster tune, bored throttle body with a commander gauge and yes i said commander gauge i have already done it and so far all works normally. if you run a monster tune no need for a cam position sensor that the 1000 doesnt have. the hurdle now is i want to run the commander gearbox but the shift indicator sensor is different and uses a digital signal instead of an analog one that the quad gear box uses. i am told the commander gear box is heavier duty then the quad ones. i am sending all the commander electronics to steve at monster to see what he can come up with, if he can come up with a fix for some of the problems the commander electronics have then you can run all of it.

Are you eliminating the fly by wire?

I am looking at a 2013 1000cc commander for a donor for my 06 Rhino. I want to put the who drivetrain all the way to the wells. Any tips?

if i understand your post correctly, you want to use all the canam stuff, diffs , axles and hubs on top of motor/gearbox??

I don't have none yet. I am trying to find someone that has done the swap to get feedback. I am looking at a 2012 Can-am Commander 1000cc donor Ina wrecked auction. I and thinking about implanting the whole drivetrain all the way to the wheels. I will have to do a little weld inning, bracing and some drive shaft length work I am sure. But it looks doable. Anybody got any tips??

i have not heard of anyone swapping out diffs let alone all the arms too. the rhino diffs work fine with the eninge swap. the rear commander diffs dont even hold up in the commander unless you upgrade to xmr or mav diff.
doing an engine swap is semi easy with all the stuff out there that you can get to help in doing it.
no offense but do you have any idea how much work your creating for yourself trying to do all that??
your time would be better spent fixing the wrecked commander.
if you want help with the engine swap i can help you with that.
