The problem I have seen with the synthetic greases like mobil 1 is they can seperate and leave an almost oil consistancy liquid in the sheave. They also get really runny when they get hot. I have replaced grease in a dozen or so that were put together and ended up burning the belt up when the red oily mess came dripping out and got on the belt. I always used the Ultramatic grease and the reccomended 90 grams of it and have never had an issue that way.

In the old days, the triblogical properties of polymer material is not so good so it's helpful to use liquid or powder lubricant & grease to improve the friction.
But now the bearing grade of self-lubricated polymer is used widely and no more grease or any lubricant is necessary.
This kind of polymer material is used in the round roller, sliding roller from Dr.Pulley
