Getting a backfire once in awhile when in gear and coasting. Is this normal? Doesn't have spark arrestor installed. Think the factory arrestor has some baffling as well.
Could the backfire be from less back pressure since arrestor out.

Finally I just ordered arrestor. Hope this helps with noise as well?

99% probability it's either fuel delivery or fuel metering...

We have exactly what you need to eliminate both of those problems and I will help you trouble shoot it further in the unlikely event that if you get fuel delivery and jet kit that you have any more problems...

Trouble shooting all run ability problems begins with verifying fuel delivery and correct fuel metering...

Have you checked for any exhaust leaks or cracks maybe at the head or the collector? If you have a leak in the exhaust system backfires can occur. Backfireing under decel/coasting can also be an indicator of a lean mixture. Have you changed anything on the intake side?

Had the same problem-checked my exhaust pipes @ the cylinder, and I had lost a nut holding the exhaust pipe on.Too bad the lost nut was attached the the stud that broke off in the head!

Could the rare backfire I get when slowing down be from the fact that spark arrestor has been removed.
Possibly...but check for an exaust leak at the head pipe or connectors area first.....

when the throttle is closed completely in deacceration mode, colder air can get sucked thru that area and cause an extremely lean afr onto internal exaust pipe hot spots ....since a very lean afr is highly combistible, this flashing off of mixture could cause the big boom out your exaust known as backfire

Starting to do it again (backfire). But only when flowing down and not as much if decelerate slowly.
Hope it's not muffler again. Replaced once.
It was crackled where exhaust pipe goes into muffler. But think that was caused by bracket that holds two pipes together was broken and letting muffler move up and down.

Does it sound like muffler ( can't see side where pipe goes into muffler) or fuel mixture.

Notice sometimes until really warmed up it does hesitate a little when taking off.

Are your fuel settings correct, I had backfire on decel when I was running rich at WOT.

Also, I am a firm believer in a good warm up, I don't like to hammer mine until the fan comes on, that tells me it's warm enough to rock.

all new to me 2008 rhino 700 backfiring on decel. how do I check fuel mixture
If it is a stock Rhino 700- They are fuel injected/computer controlled & not aware of any adj of fuel. If it is backfiring major- Check exhaust system for cracks ,leaks or loose/missing nuts or bolts @ the head. Valves might need adjustment also. Use the search on this forum for more details. Good Luck
