Is it gonna be easier if I remove the fuel tank so I can rotate the engine over? I've had the covers off and tried bumping the engine over with the starter but I always go too far. I adjust the intake when the exhaust is closing and adjust the exhaust when the intake opens.
Thanks,
Scott.

No no - just remove the 'cooling fan shroud' (do 450s' have this?) and then remove plug and turn over by hand with a ratchet on the crank. 17mm I think... need to line up the mark on the flywheel as well... it's hidden behind that little black 'button' at the 3-oclock position.

YOu shoudl set clearances at TDC of compression stroke... both valves should have clearance at that point.
