If the pads are not shot...the threaded rod sticking out the back of the caliper is for adjustment. Loosen the jam-nut and screw the rod in till it stops, and then turn it back out 1/2 to 3/4 a turn. James (JBS) has a good video showing how to modify your caliper to get the most miles between adjustments.

You can download the 2008 Service and Repair Manual from the Engine section (Thanks LasVegasRhino) that will have more information on the parking break and adjustments.
