Using my 05 Rhino 660 this week duck hunting and about 100 yards into a flooded rice field the Rhino just stopped moving and sounded like it was not catching the gears in 4wd, 2wd, forward and reverse. Sounds fine at idle. Any ideas on what this may be? I just got back and have not had a chance to tear into it yet, but hoping someone has run into this before. Thanks
Welcome to the site, had the fixed primary sheave on my 05 strip the teeth made a heck of a noise, eased back to camp but was nerve racking. You'll have to pull off the primary sheave to check it. If it's good I'd check the one-way bearing next.
yes, if it wont move in reverse then you blew up your middle drive plate and or gear, they are the main drive gears that propell the driveshafts and they are located in the motor, you will have to open it all apart or take out the front driveshaft and the front coupler and drain the oil and get in there with a mirror and flashlight to inspect the damage, you might need new cases and a total rebuild....
