Starting issue...break pedal start?

Does anyone know if the break pedal will keep it from starting? Cuz i turn the key and press the break it starts when it wants but i noticed when it doesnt start the first turn of the key when i let off the ignition it slightly turns over? Is it the break pedal kill switch or whatever its called that may be messed up? If so does anyone know what that part is called or maybe know how to fix it??

You know how u have to press the break and turn the key for it to start? Well if i do exactly that it doesnt turn over like normal...when i turn the key..(while pressing the break) it doesnt turn over until i begin to release the break ( while still holding the key to on) ...what im saying it seems to be something with the break. Idk if you've ever look behind the break pedal, but theres a little plastic thing with 2 wires going to it....my thought was maybe that lil switch that makes it start might be broke or something wrong.? ANYONE KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT??? LOL

I'm not real familiar with your setup, but lets say the brake light switch is part of your start circuit. Have someone monitor your brake lights while you are depressing the pedal - have them advise you exactly what the light is doing and if that corresponds to your pedal movement. It sounds like either your brake switch is out of adjustment or just plain whacky. I doubt that switch is very expensive should it come to having to replace it.

Ok so ik the break light come on when i turn the key forward then turn the lights on....so am i looking for them to get brighter when i press the break? (Like its supposed to) or if i press the break and doesn't get brighter then maybe the starter switch in the actual break may have gone bad or out of wack?

Brake lamps have a dual filament, one is for tail light and the other is for when pressing on the brake - so yeah, it should get brighter and stay brighter as long as your foot is on the brake pedal. What I'm (you) are looking for is that when you start to depress the pedal the light gets brighter and stays brighter as long as you are depressing the pedal. If the brake light is not consistent, goes dim/bright while still pushing on the pedal that would indicate a worn out/bad switch.

On a 2004 you have to have foot on brake and making switch for it to start in gear. Put in neutral and it will start without brake.

I bet they are, had to replace my brake switch for this reason.
