Thumbs down K&N air filter leak

Rode 140 miles this weekend, mostly dusty roads and trails (Arapeen).

Previous owner had a K&N air filter installed. When I went to clean the K&N yesterday, I noticed some dust trying to seep through on the sides of the bottom rubber part of the filter.

I should have taken a picture of the dust on the rubber piece before cleaning it. It looks like the rubber doesn't seal on the box like a foam filter would. Maybe I should have put some sealing grease on it.
I will be ordering a Twin Air...

I ran a filter that was floppy at best, the grease was the trick, but went back to the stock filter.

We'll be in Palisades Lake in Sept. Utah is our favorite off road state. We're hitting Bryce, Marysvale, Palisades then hit Kanab then home should be a fun month on the trails.
