Quieter Rhino????

Any suggestions on how to make my rhino quieter. I use it for hunting so any help would be great and is their anyway to reduce engine noise inside the cab. Thanks

Here's some great reading on that subject:

On my 450, I've done these things so far:

Benz ATV silencer
Snorkeled airbox intake up under the hood
Installed TrailArmor dust kit
Added insulation to the engine cover, plus under the seats
Use the heavy OEM floormats
Use a piece of foam pipe insulation between the bed and the back of the seats

One of these days, I still want to put Rhinoliner or something similar on top and bottom of the bed itself...

You can hear it here, climbing a mountain. The camera was mounted on the left A-pillar... it's certainly quiet enough now to be able to enjoy the tunes.

The Benz makes a big difference, but probably more of a difference outside the cab than inside. Noise when riding by is about half...

Most of the noise inside the cab comes from the engine compartment and the engine air intake (on 450s and 660s).

Snorkeling the airbox up under the hood, blocking off that intake under your elbow, and insulating the engine cover really helped a lot -- I did all that at one time. It wasn't expensive, just time consuming...

Would a aftermarket intake be quieter or do you have to use a snorkel.

Aftermarket intake would likely be quite a bit noisier. The stock airbox would be quieter than just an air filter sitting inside the engine compartment on an aftermarket intake.

There's a description in that topic I linked about how I used shop-vac hose from Home Depot to snorkel mine. I couldn't tell any loss in performance - if anything, it improved throttle response.

I'm looking into doing a snorkel job on my 660 to reduce intake noise, but i don't want to get into re jetting or anything. Has anyone tried one like the "shop vac" snorkel on a 660 without having problems with it? Also with the intake out front I notice a lot of mud and debris and im sure water gets thrown up under my hood compartment. Anyone have trouble with this getting into the intake with the snorkel rig?

I put a shop-vac nozzle about 6" wide on the end of mine, and then put a piece of the very porous shop-vac pre-filter around that to keep the large stuff from coming in...

My air filter seems to be staying cleaner than it did in the stock configuration. I have only had a problem with getting water in it once, when I hid a deep puddle at high speed. The water came up over the hood and into the cab! It got enough water into the snorkel that it spit and sputtered for a few minutes but never enough to stop the engine...

How fast were you travelling in the vid?
Last weekend I got to do back-to-back rides in my '07 450 Rhino, an '09(?) 700 Rhino and a '10 RZR. The 700 still had a fair amount of noise but it definitely was an improvement over mine. The RZR was downright enjoyable as far as noise was concerned. Other than just enough exhaust noise to know it was running, there was nothing! The price tag, lack of cargo space and that damn wheelwell right where my left foot should rest make a RZR a no-go for me though. Underhood snorkel and sound deadener...here I come!

Does a snorkel between the cage and the bed that faces the rear help with noise. I have roof, folding windshield and back vynal windshield. Just wonder if getting the noise behind me a little would quite it down, but worried about raising it closer to me.

Hey I'm wanting to run my intake like yours under the hood. I have purchased the 2.5 hose from home depot. My questions are did u put anything on the hose to protect it from heat? Or will it be ok without. Also did you have to change jetting. I hope to not change anything just make quieter. I have installed floor mats rubber on front of bed, bed mat and rear window. I think intake
Is the last loud thing I can fix. Thanks for the help.
