Installing HD springs...questions on how?

Okay...I bought a pair of HD rear springs to fix my saggy ass Rhino.

But, I'm not sure what to do now. Do I just jack up the rear end, and remove the bolts holding the shocks on? And in doing so do I get severely whacked by some pent up tension in the springs? Are there any tricks or things I need to watch out for? I would imagine it helps to reduce the shock setting first...right?

And then when I get the shocks off...then what? I glanced at them and it wasn't immediately obvious how the springs come off of the shocks.

My Rhino is at my place up North so I'm trying to look ahead and ask my questions now. I don't have internet up there and I would prefer not to spend 2-3 weekends tearing it apart (or trying to) then coming home to post my questions.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!

Jack it up take the shocks off (easy). Get a spring compression tool (Harbor Freight $15) to compress the springs and they will come off.

Do I need two of these tools (since I'll be compressing HD springs...not regular)?

And how do they come off of the shocks when compressed? Is there a clip or u-shaped washer or something that holds the springs in place when they're under compression? What am I missing?

TX for the response!

You only need (1) tool, I think it is made for a car. Not sure how the stock shocks are built, but once you get the spring compressed, you will be able to tell how they come off. Someone with stock shocks should chime in here.

i put the progressive hd springs on all corners, i just jacked it up and removed the bolts, the stock springs came right out and i placed the progressives in and tourqed them down to spec. i didnt have to use any special tools, not sure why you would need a spring compressor?

He's keeping the shocks - just replacing the springs on the shocks.
