I used the NAPA one....part number 3191....UPC numberR876595.....it worked great for the Moose aftermarket boots that I just put on....it tightens with a 9/16 wrench or ratchet...it even has it's own cutter.

Thanks! I'll look it up and see if the local Napa has it.

I got one off e-bay that has a built in ratchet and cutter for like $30 and it came with clamps.

I bought one at our local junk store (well, just has weird stuff, nothing super high quality). But it was $9. It was a car CV boot repair kit. Came with 10 bands, 10 clips, and this tool, which had a crank handle to tighten, bend it over, and then snip it. Got bands super tight. I use $5 moly grease from NAPA, comes in a nice tube like gel, good stuff IMO.

I use solid 14 guage bare copper wire on mine. Wrap it around twice, twist and cut. I always seem to have problems with grease still seeping out around the axle. The head of the aftermarket clamps don't seem to seal well on small diameter axle shafts. Tried the tool and clamps but this works best for me, plus being an electrician I always have an abundance of wire.

I used automotive cv boot clamps from Napa. I borrowed a tool from a local tire shop to crimp those on. it was easy to do. the next day, i realized i forgot to put grease on one cv, so i cut the clamp off with wire cutters and it was a bitch. tough material. when i put it back together i didn't want to go back and borrow the tool again, so i had a pair of cheap china made wire cutters and used them to crimp the new clamp. it turned out really good, and i went on a pismo trip with no problems. they're still on there tight.
