Tuning with Air Fuel Ratio Gauge (Target AFR)
Well I am getting ready to start fine tuning my 800 Rotax and have been reading up on tuning these gassers since I am used to working on diesel that you can run lean without worries.
This is what I have found so far for target AFR Your target AFR should be around 14.7:1 in vacuum, around 12.5:1 at static, and around 11.5-11.0:1 as you approach your peak boost level. This will achieve the best fuel economy while supporting for lots of airflow Does everyone agree with this? Thanks Adam

I am using an AEM Uego AFR gauge with a EJK (Doebeck electronic jet kit)
They claim to be load based not alpha n tuning like dynojet.. I have heard good and bad about them. I am just getting into this one to see what all I can do with it.. They did say I could upgrade to the 3.5 versiona nd use the AEM 0-5 volt output to close loop around the AFR ratio. EFI Controllers - Electronic Jet Kit - Motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, Sportbikes, Snowmobiles, Watercraft, Dirt Bikes ![]() Doebeck also makes a 4.0 with AFR gauge that is closed loop around AFR gauge all in one. They do not offer this yet for a can am. GEN 4 - AFR PLUS EFI Controller - ATVs, UTVs, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles I am being told a power commander 5 with dual auto tune is a better setup which it may be but the price is half of a tune monster...

11:1 is too rich under boost. You would only go that rich if your running too much boost for your compression ratio and octane, and trying to use it as a bandaid. Some people like to say the extra fuel will keep the temps down, but it really doesn't. I personally would run 13.1-13.5:1 at WOT (no Boost), and at the most 12.5:1 under boost. Any more than that to keep it from pinging, and you really need to up your octane, or drop your compression. Just my 2cents..
