Rotax Your Rhino info you should know!

RotaxYourRhino.com is the premier supplier of Rotax installation kits for Yamaha Rhino’s.
We manufacture the highest quality components and the most thorough do-it-yourself kit available today!

If you’re thinking about a Rotax engine swap for your Rhino, here are a few things you should know.

650cc and 800cc Rotax V-Twin engines are found in 2006 and newer Can-Am Outlander and Renegades. The 800cc Rotax engine is the most powerful engine ever sold in a 4x4 quad to this day. In turn, the engines are an excellent choice when thinking about an engine swap for your Rhino. You can expect 52whp and 44 torque and a top speed of 70+mph, with the addition of a Muzzy’s bolt on exhaust system in your Rotax Rhino. This gives your Rhino roughly double the power that it came with from the factory. There are also many big bore kits available for this engine from a few different manufacturers such as Mr.RPM Cycle, and Woods Racing Products. You should know that a 650cc Rotax powered quad is much more affordable that an 800cc. This is good for the person who would be interested in a big bore kit, because the bottom ends, and transmissions are almost 100% identical. The 650 has slightly lower gearing. This is great for Rhino’s due to the extra weight of the vehicle. If you’re into BIG power, save yourself some money on your donor quad by buying a 650, and slap a bbk on top of it for some serious power!

Of course, you can opt to buy one of these machines new, or your best bet would be to source a used quad from Craigslist, Ebay, or a Can-Am forum. Your search for a donor might just be the most time consuming and difficult part of your whole engine swap experience. Be patient! There are super deals floating around out there! To find one, you need to be persistent. You may also have to look to the east, as these quads are much more popular out there. Sometimes it helps to be in the right place at the right time for a great deal.

The quads have a CVT dry clutch system with high, low, neutral, reverse, and park making this the perfect swap for your Rhino. Your shifting system will work in the same pattern as your Rhino did with it’s stock engine. In fact, your Rhino will look and feel the same as it did new, only with a lot more power!

Our kits come with the following:

·Powder coated engine mounts, and electronic mounts (Your choice of color)
·300M – Heat treated through shaft
·Shifter linkage kit
·Throttle linkage kit
·Drive shaft kit
·Upper radiator hose and coolant provisions w/ temp sender port
·Dash plate for mounting your Can-Am dash
·Shifter modification kit
·All necessary hardware and instructions

Also available:

·8.1 Gallon aluminum fuel cell to work with Can-Am fuel pump and fuel lever sender
·Wiring harness service

These kits were developed with the weekend garage mechanic in mind. If you’re comfortable with pulling your stock engine out, and re-installing it, then you’re perfectly capable of performing this swap yourself with basic hand tools found in most garages. The swap is fairly easy to do, you will just need to make some time as they can be time consuming. The kit is 99% bolt-on, while the only welding required is to mate your new Can-Am drive shafts to your Rhino shafts.

Mine is a 4 seater, and a heavy one at that. Sub box's, extra batterys, alt kit. From what im told you just need to install a clutch kit before putting the motor in. You are going from a 600lb quad to something that weighs more then double.

How did the PCV w/ autotune work out? I went ahead and bought the PCIII... figured since there was a shop with a Dyno close by and from what I have heard, he is really good with Power Commanders... I went for it.

No engine. Just the engine mounts and everything needed to install it.

Really considering upgrading to a 800 Rotax for my 700fi.

I understand the install kit is $1500.

What will a complete engine cost (engine, harness, inst. cluster, etc...)?

You should be able to get one for right around $4K

A complete "rebuilder" should be under $2000K (including wire harness, dash, etc), and then $3000 - $4200, depending on the year and how many miles/hrs are on the motor. Nick Coleman is a great source for the Rotax swap. I can PM you his phone # if you need it.
