Inside picture of case grinding for through shaft!

**** NOTE! - The cases do not have to be split to install through shaft! ****

I had a request for this picture so I thought I would post it here.

This is a picture of the inside the case where material has to be removed to run an upgraded through shaft.

The RYR through shaft is 1/4" larger than the OEM through shaft. In order to install this, you will need to remove about 1/8" of case material in this location. As you can see, there is an oil galley directly above where the grinding takes place. If you take time and care when doing this, you should have no problems. I recommend using a 6" long grinding burr to access this area from the transmission side of the engine.......

Nice pics Brian - swappers needed this with the cases split to get an idea of the oil galley thickness in relation to material to-be-removed - was it Max Powers that thought his might have etched into that galley slightly and lost a bit of oil pressure into the crankcase to cause engine failure?.....LBR

So I have this clear, this is for the rear output shaft that used to be the front output shaft when in the quad? The grinding is done on the motor case?

Thumbs up

Great pics Brian, I appreciate you posting those pictures, good to see there is some thickness there. I ground mine over the holiday, it doesn't take much I was figuring 1.5mm just like your 1/8". I took off both side cases and removed the oil pump trying to get an idea of how thick (it just makes me feel better), but couldn't tell much, this definitely clears things up. Anthony
