Charging System

My rhino has got me stumped it is not charging but will run with a hot battery just fine but let it sit for a couple of days and the battery drains down some one said it was the stator but will it run with a bad stator? I can not find the manual on the site. Thank all you guys for the helpful advise it is helping out greatly.

So have you verified with a voltmeter that the charge voltage does not go up when you start the rig?

Yes, it will run if the stator is bad. That is, the charging portion of the stator. UTV Crap has the manual download online. Perform the tests per the manual.

And that measurement was taken with a voltmeter at the battery? Not off the voltmeter in the dash right?

just a thought the battery might be crappin its self, starting to burn a cell out and not letting it charge.
because u would think if was like a car witch it kinda is if its not charging at all soon as u start it. it will run till it sucks the battery dry then quit. if it is charging just enough to keep it running when u turn the headlights on or other lights if u have them they should be very dem.

could also be the regulator rectifier... as stated above, download the manual to do a proper trouble shoot so you're not buying unneede parts... they're not dirt cheap

That sucks, no follow-up. I have the exact same issue. I read the manual but I'm not sure how to determine if the regulator or stator is the cause.

Honestly, the manual gets confusing after checking the voltage at the battery. Mine does not rise a bit when revving the engine for a good while.

I have a voltage meter. What else do I need to check the regulator/rectifier?

In a lot of cases if you put a voltmeter on your battery and rev the motor you should see and voltage increase if not its the rectifier.
