Installing winch kills engine

I installed a winch, It has a switch and a cord switch. The cord switch works but the other switch only goes one way. The switches should let it out and bring it in. The instructions said to hook the red wire up to so when the ignition is on it will work. I hooked it up to a fuse cause it doesn't say exactly were to plug it in. When the rhino is running i push the winch button it kills the engine. What should I do?

The large red wire? It needs to go to battery positive.

i just had the same problem a couple weeks ago, make sure you're not grounding out. My negative (which turns positive when you reel in) was barely touching the front bumper. Kept stalling the Rhino. Ground off a little bit of the stud and loosened the mount bolts to slide it back as far as possible (for a little extra piece of mind) and it works great now!

Put the SMALL red wire on your winch controller to a keyed hot on source, we used the brake light brown wire near the brake switch on our 700. Hope this helps you out.

I used the wire that goes to the little safety light on the dash. You know that silly little green one with the helmet guy. Works like a charm.
