Wrench Belt change ?????

ok guro's need some rhino assistance:

got a new belt one under the driver seat side. Having a royal b^(&*^ch of a time trying to get that cover off? suggestions????

2nd : my belt on the rhino looks the same as the new belt so how can I tell if this one is worn out or not? ( keep in mind this belt on here now would not allow me to move the rhino and i had to push it into the freaking garage...

3rd... why have a belt with ridges top and bottom but the wheels ( pulleys ) it rides on are slick????

not looking for blasting b/c im changing a belt im trying to just learn more infomation and do things myself than get $$$ at the shop for them to do it.

Belt change

I changed mine this summer, not too difficult. Go to hunterworks.com, Todd has a video on there that will walk you through the install. Took me about 30 minutes - and I knew nothing about it prior to starting. Good luck.

Try taking the bolt out of the clamp that holds the water line to the frame...

The outer cover on/off is the hard part...

If the belt is good condition it is not the reason why you had to push the S@B into the garage...!

Measure the width of the belt to see if it is wore out I had 6300km on it when i changed it and it was still within spec

just trying to help you...serch my wet clutch posts....mine did the same thing...would not go...so like you..asumed the belt sliping...my belt looked fine also....turned out mine was the wet clutch that is behind the primary clutch the rear belt one...its is bathed in oil behind two differnt covers from where you are now looks like a old minibike clutch with the shoes inside a drum....my shoes where down to metal....cost me 400 in parts...pritty easy....when i picked up my belt earyer...the yamaha guy said that was the first belt they had sold....they dont normaly wear...they are tight all the time and dont slip...and when i said mine would not go?...i ment you had to rev the enggine to make it move..after you got it going it was ok...untill you stop again and try to go again...then rev...does that sound like yours?...let us know...beat black rhino

the belt rides on its edge only and rides on the "face" of the two shevs...the faster they spin with rpm....one squeshes closer together and makes the belt start to ride higher and higher...changing your gear..primary rear one...the secondary front one...belt starts out at the top of shevs and that one opens up with rpm and the belt drops down inside ...also changing your gearing...this is the cvt transmision...like a snowmobile and scooter...the wet clutch behind is a rhino thing...its what ingages you cvt (belt)...the belt has the ribs...i think it help cool it...it get hot in there

Beat black. Sounds like my problem but need that cover off to change the belt out to see if it is going to the other problems you have listed below. Need help how to get that cover off and back on???

Will the rhino run with cover off to make sure things are in working order ???

oh..i thought you finaly got the coner off....cus you said the belt looked fine?....you have both seats out?...engine cover off?...the coolant return line that runs along the frame gets in the way...loosen and move...also like 10 outer bolts around cover but dont forget the 2 in the middle of cover?...the bolts along the bottom are tuff...if cover dont move easy?...you still have a bolt on...it just fals off if all bolts removed...yes you can run the engine with cover off...and you will see haw the cvt transmision works( primary clutch rear one...secondary clutch front one...with belt between)...still sounds like a wet clutch problem....you need a impact gun to remove nut from pimary clutch...and remove outer sheeve....then you can remove belt....you can use 2 of your cover bolt for the secondary clutch...it has to bolt hols neer center that push the 2 sheve apart so the belt falls in and gives more room...to remove secondary clutch ?...it is also a impact gun on outer nut...it will hit the seat frame before it will slide off all the way?...you need to pry motor over with ply bar to make room.....with belt and both clutches removed?...the is one more plastic cover behind them...a few bolts and that comes right off...the shaft on the rear that the primary clutch goes on....there is that square cover with like 8 bolts...behind that is your wet clutch...you need to drain oil befor you remove.....the clutch shoes are cheepest from walt in La...like 100 bucks( rhino clutch blocks )...not 200 for whole thing....the drum is 200 and needle bearing inside 20...gaskit and seal is 30...1 way bearing is 60...and your oil and filter 30..and your new belt and your rhino will go like new again....just thought this would help you...if you need to go that far?....how many miles?....is it stock?..or lager tires..and mudding done..stuck in mud is hard on wet clutch....also wrong oil will make the wet clutch slip..i changed mine with castrol gtx...cus thats all i ever use...the rhine dont like that oil...to slippery for the wet clutch...i changed mine twice with yamalube...but my clutch (wet) was allready (shot) gone...when i bought it...works great now....hope this helps

Naw beat. No motor stuff taken off. Just the seats and the bolts for the belt plastic case. I have the water pipe attached to the frame loosened up so I can try to get that plastic case out and away from the belt so I an work on it.

Is the oil you referring too same as the motor oil?

No I'm not first owner got several hours on it. Has 27x10x12 tires stock height.

Was going to replace the belt and see if that was my problem an work it one problem at the time. I have to do a oil change on it anyway. And was going to use yamalube.

All the other stuff you said was awesome info just hoping I don't have to get to those problems yet. Hoping just a belt and oil issue and it's fixed.

If stuck in the mud I usually don't push it I just get towed out and go back to playing. If anything I can send you pics of where im at at this point and we work from there.

If you remove the bolt that secures the water line to the frame you should be able to work the cover out into the section below the seat and out...it does come out with no problem if you angle it correctly...and let the waterline flex to the side some...

Yes...run without the outer cover no problem...do NOT run it without the aluminum cage secured...it supports the whole primary assembly...without it...you can break your engine causes and do extensive damage...

Odds are it is your wet clutch... and that is the cheapest problem you could have at this point...

Tha ks Honda and rutt ya what I'm scared of is working to replace that wet clutch issue. I'm not that mechanically inclined.

Anyone help? I can not the hunterworks vid to work nor on their website does it show a how to on the cvt belt.
