Hey MM. I am thinking of the same thing and have been beating the investation to death. I recently made a decision to go with the summit heater infront of the steering box. The best price I found is on ebay.. THe one for the 07 mounts it up over the front driver wheel. the others seem to include the mount for inbetween the rails. I have my second battery there as well. I wanted it upfront as I wanted the heat ducts for my wife primarily and defroster as well.. I decided to stay away from underseat just from a heat distribution perspective..

i have installed the summit heater in the front between the rails and the only problem that i have had is that the heater under the hood does not heat up enough if its below 40 unless you block off part of the front radiator. with the heater running its just like another radiator

How about putting some type of valve that would only pass water to the radiator when the heater core reached a certain temperature?
