Folks, it's been awhile since I have been on the forums...business is off the charts these days.

Just wanted to pass along some info I got from a HIGHLY credible source within the UTV industry....the Rhino is about to be no more. Due to all the lawsuits and so forth, I was told they were going to make 30 (yes 30, no typo, this next model year), then maybe 15 the following year....then no more. By doing this, it's almost like moth-balling a particular machine- without admitting there may be a rollover problem.

Speaking of, I have a dealer who also sells the Rhino. One of her employees rolled one in their parking lot and broke a bunch of his bones...don't know any details about what he was doing, but to crash in a dealership parking lot is insane! He must have been showboating somehow?

Anyway, your mileage may vary....just passing along this info- which I have semi-verified with 3-other Yamaha dealers.

If this is true which I hope is not, it will be a great loss to Yamaha and to us as customers of a great machine. People for the most part piss me off! they are sometimes so screwed up, I mean who? in there right mind puts a kid on a machine and allows him or her to drive it alone. I feel badly that some have lost their lives on these but come on it is not the fault of Yamaha. Wake up! LOVE MY RHINO!!

I doubt they would abandon the entire industry and they are probably working on a replacement

I know how you feel... I've been close to buying a RZR a few times and gave the Teryx a couple of good hard looks and even got pretty excited about the new Can Am Commander. The problem is that after nearly 7,000 brutal miles of trouble free service on two Rhinos combined it would be very tough to switch. The Rhino is still the best built and most popular all purpose sporty UTV out there. Yes... it could use a bit more power and perhaps a vTwin but even with the power that my 700 has I rarely if ever need more. I'm still not convinced that the RZR is reliable and durable enough even in it's 4th year of production and the Teryx and Can Am are just too big and I am hearing that the Commander steering effort and cab space are pretty awful.

Just get the lawsuits settled for the R tard population and put factory 6" long travel stock. Stability is out the ying Yang

The negatives about the Commander that is being offered on the internet is not coming from open-minded peeps with positive creditable attitudes towards the Commander "for some odd reasons"...lol....

so many of these folks are hating the cab space....they don't realize that the driver's seat slides 6.3"....they're 6' plus and don't have enough leg room...well, a pic is floating around of just that and you can see the seat is all the way forward!....

my Mrs. finds the steering very acceptable in sand, but most steering complaints seem to be the trail riding on hard compact.....and I'll bet if all of us sand jockies drove it (and maybe other brands of SxS too?) on those same trails, we would probably complain/want PS also.....Lance

my dealer told me about 3 months or so that the rhino will no longer be called the rhino... they are trying to distance them selves from all the law suits/ bad pablisity.... there is still a new redesigned yami ready to release...just will come with a new name!!! LONG LIVE THE RHINO!!!

In 2009 Yamaha Motor sports division lost 10 million$$ CEO resigned.

Almost all ATV trails are closed to Rhino now or about to be closed. (Not forrest roads just the ones marked ATVC)

Soooo time to widen it and put some HP in it. It isn't the Rhino name that is the problem its MPH.

I need reliability period and my 09 with obver 3500 has been great . BUT I Need more HP especially at high altitude.

I was at the UTV jam in Utah this weekend and saw the Can Am up close I even was registered to drive one. Not that impressive anymore to me. Did a lot of riding in the Mountains but could have done a bunch more if my Rhino were only 50" wide, sucks to be locked out because of width. Razor here we come .... I think...... Maybe Yamaha will come out with 2 new UTV's on 50"er and a serious sport model.

Very credible sources have been spreading rumors for years (on all types of forums). If credible source facts were true, Yamaha would no longer be producing the Rhino, credible sources have been saying since 2006 that this years Rhino will be a 1000 cc V-twin something or other, the factory four seater Rhino rumor form a credible source is still re-hashed on this site time to time, remember the credible source stories that Can-Am's new SXS's will be out this year back in 2007? Yamaha will not stop making the Rhino until they stop making money, they are actually winning lawsuits now so as long as it's still profitabe for them they'll keep them coming. Fact is no one knows what changes the new year will bring until a few weeks before it's release date, but it's fun to watch the stories fly every year, and that is from a very credible source.
