12 volt heaters any of them work

I already have the rhinogear heater that runs off the cooling system but was wondering if anyone knows of an electric heater 12v that actually will produce any heat to just help out or possibly a small propane heater.Mine works fine untill it get really cold then it cant keep up.

There is one made by Quadrax that seems to work pretty good. It is distributed by Motovan Corp.

I was told by a dealer close to me that the electrical system wasn't designed to handle that kind of a draw, and that it likely wouldn't take long to drain your battery, so unless you upgraded your alternator and maybe installed two batteries, they didn't suggest going with the electric heaters.

Electric heaters are weak. Why dont you try raising the engine coolant temps. You can block off part of the rad or adding a thermostat. I added the TCP fan shroud and it has helped keep my coolant temps warmer on cold days and cooler on hot days.

Cab heaters are a waste. Try getting the electric motorcycle gear. You can get vest, jackets, gloves and pants. My jacket draws 0.6 Amps and will make you plenty hot. They even make a battery pack for it.

as a good practice why not run the 12v heater off a second battery with an isolater/ charger ( I run Blue Sea) inbetween the batteries for safety.

I have thought of the electric thing as well. I am having trouble with mounting the summit heater on my 08 700(Air box is in the way). Anyhow if you put 2x of the 300w heater in a enclosed cab it should give you some heat. That's 700w, about half of a portable ceramic heater for a home. They seem to do a good job warming up small 10x10 rooms. So 700w should heat up your cab if it's good and sealed up! The only drawback is you need at least ... 50amps just for the heaters. Sounds like you have that covered.

I am thinking of using two of these.

i dont think so it only gets to about 100 degrees on the temp gauge. works awesome untill it gets really cold. i might try a 300 watt heater just to help out. my dad just put a propane one in his armrest cupholder and it works really good.
