What weight oil you runnin for winter??

I ran amsoil full syn 20w50 all summer in my 700 rhino, now the temp is struggling to get over 50 during the day and soon... It won't get over 25 during the day and drop as low as -40 during the night. Im into icefishing a little bit and us ice fisherman like to hit the lake before sun up so it is nothing for it to be between -15 and 25 degrees F outside when we leave....

What weight oil are you northern guys running for winter?? I want something that wont turn into a solid at low low temps but I need it to not turn into water once the engine starts to get hot..... I only put a few (less than 800) miles on the rhino during the winter so I like to change the oil in late fall (now) and usually dont change it again until spring.......

Thanks guys!!

full sythetic is not recommended because of the wet clutch ,unless it has no friction modifiers ,stick with 10/40 and change it often ,mine performed better afetr changing from sythetic to conventional...good luck ,and you will be seeing many differant opinions on this,so good luck

Amsoil synthetic is motorcycle oil that is designed for wet clutches, I have had great luck with it so far... I think im gunna go with a 10w40 for the winter months

so I should have told you I use my rhino to plow snow during the winter. temp are sometimes -35 during the day and if I plug in the block heater for a couple hours before I start it the oil is good and not stiff . so that just one reason I use amsoil

I use Rotella full synthetic 5w-40 in winter and Mobile 1 full synthetic 15w-50 in summer. And yes, we have freezing tempertures in Arizona-- I am at 5200 ft. Low was 28F this morining, looking for a high of 58.

after switching back to regular 10/40 motorcycle oil instead of full synthetic i have noticed a modest improvement in performace ,especially at the top end ,feels more responsive and tourqeir ,thought id'e throw that out there

You shouldn't be running the 20W-50 in your Rhino (too heavy and that is why you noticed a difference on your top end)...only a 40 weight, 10W-40 is a great all year oil as well as 0W-40. If you are going to ride in very cold conditions, then I'd recommend the 0W-40 for its cold flow performance.

Amsoil 10w40 Motorcycle oil in mine... but, I've also noticed it idles at very low oil pressure 5-8 PSI, based upon engine temp. Normally operatig RPMs it's in the 20-30 PSI range...
