Broken Gorilla

Well I finally broke a left rear axle today. It broke in the diff. How do I get it out of the diff? I have no experience with CV's so please speak slowly for me. I also need to know how to get it out of the spindle. Any other advice for me besides to go out and buy Sommers Bros. axles. I have the LSR axles the kit came with and will switch to those for now. Thanks for the help.

I just broke one of mine at the cv and I took mine to SDR it is well worth the money to have someone else do it !!! I heard you have to pull the other side out and beat it out or use a air hammer on the flange on the cv. If you have gorilla CVs I don't know if the LSR axle will work cause the splines might not be long enough. The gorilla set has plunging axles not cv like factory

What was the cost for SDR to do that for you if you don't mind me asking, that way I have some sort of idea what it's gonna set me back? The LSR axles came with the kit with CV's already then were upgraded to the gorillas and CV's so they should be a straight swap right? Thanks for any help in regards to the price you paid.

if you can't pull the broken one out of the diff, you'll need to pull the other axle out and then tap the broken one out from the other side - they come out pretty easy.

you don't need an air hammer, and I wouldn't advise using one on this.

I have talked to many people that own shop that use air hammers to get the inner CVs out. The stock CVs might be easier but If there are shops using type tech. I would say there is a reason.

maybe......
I have a drawer full of air tools, but most of the time I do everything by hand --- I'm just more careful that way - seen too much broke/stripped shit in my past.

thats some funny shit right there.
I only have a little experience with gorilla's - my friends rhino came with them, he recently had SDR replace them with Summer Bros axles and stock CV's

I think I'm going to have SDR pull the Gorillas and take my chances with the LSR axles with stock CV's. Hopefully I wont have any other issues.

Like everyone said, pull the other side and tap out the broken one. Or weld onto the broken part and made a slider hammer to snatch it out.Its funny how they hop out when your riding and when they break you cannot pull them out with a truck.

I just got my rhino back from SDR today for pretty much same prob broken gorilla. They gave me a free oil change and 16 point insection and serviced my shocks and throw some bump stops on. Hell they even adjusted the price cause it didn t take them as long as what they thought..... That's top notch service right there. Justin just drop your rhino off to them over there and they will take great care of you !!!!!!!!!!!

I took the rhino to SDR motorsports and let me tell ya Tim took great care of me. He was very helpful, got it done in 1 day, did a free inspection of all the vital stuff on a Rhino, changed the oil for free, and even let me leave my flatbed in the parking lot so I wouldn't have to drag it back and forth. I highly recommend them for anything you need done. One of the best shops around!!
