Street legal?
Hello,
I'm new to the forum and new to Rhino's I am wondering if anyone has made thier Rhinos street legal? I am a photographer and the Rhino would be the perfet vehicle for me to haul my gear to remote areas, but I would like it to be street leagle to travel some forest roads and to get back to camp. I will be spending a lot of time in the San Juan Mt. area of CO. and the Rhino would really be the ticket for traveling the passes out there. Thanks! |

well, me and a friend that lives here in Surprise are going to start hanging out with out Rhinos at Sonic on Friday nights ... we have probably about 6 rhinos that will be hanging out there once we get started. We are hoping to attract other side-by-sides and rhinos to join us and just hang out... you know hot-rod style
In order to join you just need to show up once it gets started.

Over here in AZ they are totally street legal and you can buy one from the dealer and have them register it street legal for you. All you need is a lighted license plate holder, rear view mirror, a horn and proof of insurance. I drive mine on the street all the time... during the off-season we are going to have Friday Rhino-Nights at the local Sonic. |

I am in CA, but I have a phone # to a place in AZ that will make my rhino st legal in AZ, but I have to change my address with Yamaha Financial to my new AZ address, but they will also forward all my stuff to my address here in CA for me. I am wondering if I should get insurance here in CA or in AZ?? Does anyone know if there is super cheap liabity ins in AZ like Geico or sumthin??? Do you know MR OFFROAD? By the wya, this is Christian from THE SHOP. I want to cruise the streets of So Cal. I have enough cop buddies to sign off fix its, so I am cool there. I just have to watch out for dickhead cops that are wiling and able to impound! And I will add all the features a cop would want to see around here like mirrors, horn, signals, etc

well, I can tell you the cops around Glamis get pretty upset when they pull a Rhino over on the street there that is licensed for AZ.
They have told me before "even though its street legal in AZ, you are in CA and its not a street legal vehicle here" Its a big risk, to drive on the streets there, you never know what kind of cop you might get. I would think that the insurance you would get might not be valid if (except for theft) if the insurance company finds out it was being used for the street. The insurance companies have the right of refusal if they find out something isnt done according to law. Sorry I havent called you yet, expect to hear from me today.

Yes, mine is and so is T-tate and another friend of ours is. Just need a rear mirror, mine has a horn. DMV didn't even ask. It cost around $150.00 to get a plate but then you need insurance or they will cancel your registration. Its nice this way you never have to worry about it, We all went to Utah in Sept and they do not recognise Arizonas registrations, which was crap. Good luck. :P
