660 carb leaks from a port on the bottom

of my carb. It sends it through a tube and basically dumps the fuel on the ground.

Anyone know why it's leaking fuel from this port? Also, is this tube supposed to be hooked up to something and possibly came loose?

You could have a sticking float or leaky float valve. The purpose of the float and its valve is to maintain a constant level of fuel in the float bowl. If it fails, the fuel level will rise and run out of the overflow drain hose.

Rutting Rhino's fuel line system provides a clear drain hose which can easily be used to determine the fuel level.

Another culprit could be that the drain valve is not tightly closed. There is a small screw on the side of the float bowl, with the purpose of draining the float bowl. You would normally use this valve to drain water or contaminated fuel out of the float bowl. It is also used in conjunction with RR's clear hose to monitor the fuel level, with the engine running to fill the bowl. Turn this screw clockwise to shut if off.

if it leaking from where u say it is u need to clean ur carb. something is in the float bowl that is no allowing ur float needle valve to stop the fuel delivery in the bowl which in turn will come out of ur overflow port which is on the bottom of the bowl

Both of the above posts are true... the port on the bottom is the drain... the screw closes the drain... the drain has a stem in it that is open all the time and whenever the fuel level gets too high inside the carb it pours into that stem (overflow tube) and out the drain...

If the screw is loose fuel will pour out the drain...

If there is debri holding the float open fuel will pour into the over flow tube and thus out the drain...

The factory has a fuel line connected to the drain on the bottom of the carb such that over flow or when the screw is opened the fuel drains out the line around the motor to the ground and not just pour out on the motor...

Generally the stock carb in good condition should hold approximately 4-5 psi of fuel pressure back when carb is 100% full of gas...if it is out of adjustment or there is a malfunction lower pressure levels can cause the overflow to occur...one possible malfunction other than debri preventing the valve from closing is a leaking float...it relies on air to make it rise and shut off the valve...if the plastic cracks or for any reason is no longer airtight it will not rise up and shut off like it should...

Normally the stock fuel pump cannot produce enough pressure even with a closed return line to force fuel into the carb when full and thus out the over flow tube...

Some electric pumps and certainly the Mikuni 65L fuel pump we sell will produce that much fuel pressure to force open the carb if the return line is closed...

Also I have come across a whole lot of people who bought used rhinos that had "alterations" to the fuel system and did not know what they had was not factory original stuff...

So if the screw is tight... you have the factory original fuel pump... the return line is not clogged... you probably have debri in your carb...

Thank you all for your informative responses. I may need to remove my carb and clean it.

I bought it new in 2005 and have never done anything to it other than changing fluids and replacing a broken rear axle, so it's more than likely needing the carb cleaned - especially considering ethanol and it's effects.

Is there a link anyone can offer on a "how to" for carburetor removal and cleaning?
