Question downhill slipping?

Hey, I just wondered if someone could help me. I just purchased a 07 Rhino 660 special edition. The only fault I have with it is when I'm running down a steep grade and the engine is holding back, there is like something in the back area that slips for just a second then holds like normal. It just does it every now and then. This is my first Rhino and I'm new to this one. Can anyone help? Thanks

The oneway bearing is in the wet clutch. It controls the engine brakeing as you are saying you are having problems with. Depending on how many miles are on it and budget might want to upgrade to the 700 belt while you are in there. But for sure check everything elese while you are in there. Wet clutch shoe, drum, primary sheave, weights, and sliders.

Is this something that a novice like my self could attempt, or should I take it to someone who knows?

That was the first thing i did on my rhino. Its not a hard job with basic tools. Just take your time and dig in. There are videos on you tube i belive. Take the driver side plastic motor cover off, then cage, belt, primary sheave, fixed sheave, then another plastic piece, then the wet clutch housing. O ya drain oil first.
