2008 Rhino Overheating Problems

I have a 2008 Rhino 700fi and it continues to over heat. I have cleaned the rads, checked the thermostat, and checked the flow in the rad, which all seems fine. However, when warmed up, small air bubbles are noticeable in the rad when the cap is off. What could be the problem?

air pockets can be hard to work out of the cooling system but if you have not had any cooling system work done that should not be the problem. check for milky oil like sls666 asked if that is ok then you need to check for a bad head gasket that is where the air bubbles are coming from, some auto part stores sell a kit for doing this i have one from NAPA. it is called a block test

Actually, you can get air in the system when the unit gets really hot and pushes fluid into the overflow container.

When you say the rad is clean, are you absolutely sure. Some guys look at the outside and say its clean but inside and backsides are clogged.

Fan should be running well before the light comes on.

The oil is fine, and the head is fine. I have been told that as far as the head goes, if something was wrong there it would be burning antifreeze, which isn't happening. The only mods we have are ITP Mudlite tires. The rad is 100% clean.

From the service and repair manual step by step items that may cause overheated situation after of course id’ing that rad is clean (shine trouble light through the fins to make sure air flow THROUGH fins and not just surface cleaned) and water pump circulating fluid (disconnect top rad hose, cap off, garden hose in hand to keep the rad full and run engine to make sure fluid coming out of top disconnected rad hose)

step by step cross each one off as you check and you are bound to find the culprit.

Good luck!! cheers

Ignition system
• Improper spark plug gap
• Improper spark plug heat range
• Faulty ECU
Fuel system
• Faulty throttle body
• Damaged or loose throttle body joint
• Clogged air filter element
Compression system

'08 700, clutched, snorkeled, 27" tires, rad relocate, after market rad & oil coolers, gauge pod, fan over rides, complete alum under skins, etc.. It ain't pretty but it runs mud.
