Hey members, just installed a new headgasket and ARP stud kit. Currently torqued to 30' lbs. Reviewing videos, I found Jason Weller torques to 44. Any expert advice before I install my cam cap? This will be #3 in 300 miles. First time by me, first time with studs. 11:1 Wiseco, Stage II cam, intake, exhaust and a rev box.
Studs give you a greater "clamping" force. Torque rating is normally for the fastener. I would contact ARP. If the are a slim shank, kinda hour glass shape that would be a stretch fastener. You would need a stretch gauge for that. ARP should be able to give you a proper spec. Good luck!!
Just spoke to KMS, the instructions are general for a top end w/ OEM bolts. The stud nuts are torqued to #40. Thank you all for your help, I should be back in action this evening and ready to fill and purge and fill and purge and fill and ................. The coolant system
Little hint (as I just did the same work as you). Jack the front of the rhino UP as high as you can, and loosen the bleed bolt on the head, then fill. You'll hear/see all the air come out of the bleed bolt. Tighten it up, then lower the front. I've done this a few times, and have NEVER had to burp the system afterwards.
Good luck! Hope your decompression pins don't come out! Tell me you bought some oversized ones...
Another little upgrade you can do is to install the 700 cam chain tensioner. The 660 is a screw type and the 700 is a ratchet style. The 700 wont backoff.
