Set up Ideas

Ok i have been trying to figure out the best things i want to do for performance. I dont really care about going fast, there a very few trails in maine that you can do over 45 on anyways. I want low and mid range power. i play in the mud and snow. right now i have a Dynatek CDI, Epi orange spring, 14.9g weights, im turning 27" Zillas. What can i do for overall setups, (cam ideas, 686?, clutching-slides,weights?,) you get the drift anyways. Any and all ideas will help.......Thanks guys

Get a wideband to dial in your carb for starters, you are going to need one anyways if you do a 686.

Mild port job (really just clean things up), no bigger valves though. Velocity is your friend. Stage 2 hot cam and an 11:1 102.5mm 693 piston from Benchmark. Orange spring and 12g weights. Good exhaust and mikuni 42mm carb.

I did something very close to this for a friend and the thing absolutly rips off the line. It gets out of the slow corners and pulls your amrs straight every time. If it were a dune motor I'd say do full porting and the oversize valves too.

i have a 686\hcr 45mm carb\muzzys to name the main power adders I went with the Mudbuster cam from hot cams and i have an insane amount of torque . not as good as i would like on top end [62mph]but that is due to the mudbuster cam . overall i love it ,very reliable once u get it dialed in ,good luck

Mud Buster cam, 44mm carb, K & N and good exhaust. should put you where you want to be. I did the ported head and didnt gain anything on tork. also keep in mind, there is no replacement for displacement. so 686 should add some bottom. good luck and keep us posted

heres the deal bro , i was exactly where u are now . i have done a ton of research , i have all of what i mentioned in the above post {& lots more} on my rhino and the best exhaust out there is the muzzy dual system . i had the alba system and its just ok ,but the muzzys .... WOW ! as soon as i fired it up for the first time after installing it i was in luv ! then i took for a spin and dude it was a huge difference on the low to mid range !!! I mean BIGGGG difference ! i luv to punch it now ,cause it just breaks the back end loose no matter what speed -its get sideways ! plus there are lots of people that have tried several systems on a dyno and the muzzys was the only one that made REAL power ,ya know enough that could be felt . the alba system made power too ,just not as much.
also the fit and finish on the muzzy system is like nothing i've encountered. i now it sounds like i have a hard on for muzzy ,lol but its refreshing to actually get what u pay for and for it to REALLY work ! so when i find a product thats good i like to let everyone know .
as far as the sheave goes i have used 2 different ones , i have the KMS sheave and then i got the trinity sheave . both are good ,but i guess if i had it to do over i would go with the one Hunterworks has . there sheave uses the overdrive greaseless weights and i think it would be better . going greaseless just eliminates the possiblitly of dust and dirt getting into the sheave and slowing down the rollers . this has been a heavily debated subject on this forum , you can do a search and get others opinions on which way to go with the sheave . good luck !
