The RhinoForums.net sponsored race Rhino made it’s desert racing debut last weekend at Speedworld in Surprise Az. Driven by Brian Bush, and co-driver Greg Frantz, the team was able to pull off a second place finish in the Pro-Mod UTV class after having had a wheel failure leaving them with roughly 8 miles to run on a flat tire. The wheel failure was due to a rock getting stuck between the inner wheel and rear spindle. After a few miles, the wheel was machined into two pieces.
Having made the decision not to carry a spare, Brian was forced to drop Greg off in the pit area and complete another 1.5 laps, while Greg raced back to their pits for a spare and tools. Brian was met in the desert by Greg and forum member Karl with a spare tire and the necessary tools to replace the broken wheel. With a new tire back on the car, Brian continued on himself for the last 20 minutes of the race and was able to hang on to second place.
Congratulations to the RhinoForums race team and everyone else who raced that day!
